C.H.U.D. Cave Music Reviews: The Mute Gods- Tardisgrades Will Inherit the Earth

music reviewsHey! I’m Kate, just your run of the mill C.H.U.D. (Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller) and all around fan of music that kicks ass! I’ll be posting music reviews live from the C.H.U.D. cave. If you like metal, melee, and music, we might get along.

The Mute Gods are back with their second album from Inside Out Music, “Tardisgrades Will Inherit the Earth”. The band is a three part ensemble made up of members from other bands like Kajagoogoo and The Artistorcrats. Best known for their political, religious, environmentally conscience lyrics, this album is no different in that regard.

Here’s some quasi-political crap from one of the guys who brought us “Too Shy”. “Tardigrades Will Inherit the Earth” is a so-so album that is bogged down social justice warrior lyrics. The sad part is, the melody and instrumentals were quite beautiful and well done, but the lyrics fall flat. Rather than tell a story that enlightens listeners, it comes across as self-aggrandizing nonsense that says, “Here’s what I think, and you should listen to me.” Don’t get me wrong, I understand that they want you to listen and think about the condition of the world we live in, but I it’s this C.H.U.D.’s opinion that you can do that without hitting your listeners over the head with a sledgehammer. I really struggled to get through the first listen, let alone listen to to the album fairly a second time.

As always, show love and C.H.U.D. like no one is watching!
