Totally Driven Radio, the weekly radio podcast heard live every Thursday night from 8 – 11 pm est time on the Totally Driven Entertainment Radio Network, covers the world of sports and entertainment each week, as well as bringing you celebrity guests interviews.
This week one of our guests was the 2 time Tony Award Winning actress who has also been in hit movies such as Tootsie, Amadeus, Big Wedding, as well as being SNL Alumni and star on the current TBS Sitcom Sullivan and Son the one and only Christine Ebersole.
We talked with Christine how she got started in the entertainment business, as well as her career, and so much more such as……….
She discussed when she was a child her parents had her and all siblings play an instrument which she played piano and violin.
She explained she did not want to be in the entertainment business as a child, until college when her professor told her to go to NYC, which she did and went to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
She told us early on her goals was to do theater and movies, and was “snobby” and didn’t want to do TV, but that changed when she needed work and ended up doing Soap Operas Ryan’s Hope & One Life to Live.
She talked to us about getting the job on SNL, she initially did a screen test for NBC, which led to her meeting with Dick Ebersol & Michael O’Donoghue and the way she got the job was smoking a joint with Michael & watched videos and next thing she knows she was given a job.
She sang for us an SNL skit “The Gadaffi Look”
Christine then explained how she got the job doing Camelot alongside the legendary Richard Burton, where she had only 3 days to learn the part.
She told us she was originally doing Amityville Horror 3D, and do Amadeus at the same time, but then the producer of Amityville Horror told her to make a choice, and even though Amityville was 3 times the money, she chose Amadeus.
She also told us she will be on next week’s episode of American Horror Story Wednesday Night October 23 on FX
She discussed how she did a screen test with Dustin Hoffman for Tootsie, and her scene in the movie was complete improvised.
She explained why she left Hollywood in 1999; she was told she would not work anymore because she was over the hill. So she moved to New Jersey and now that she is “Over the Hill, she is back!”
We then discussed her role on Sullivan and Son she said “Thank God my Father has passed on, because he would be upset” and loves working alongside her old SNL Alumni Brian Doyle Murray.
She also talked about “Royal Pains”, and the Movie “Big Wedding” with Robert Deniro and Susan Sarandon.
Lastly we discussed weight loss, “Weight Watchers”, “DDP Yoga”, Diet, and she gave us reasons why not to drink diet soda.
Christine joins Totally Driven Radio at the 17 minute mark, and hangs out with the boys for over 45 minutes to discuss these topics and more.
