Dio Hologram officially announces “Dio Returns World Tour”

by Bay Ragni

Yep, you heard it right Dio’s hologram is doing a world tour with his backing band of Dio’s Disciples.

This tour will be hitting all ends of the earth, Germany, Japan, UK, Chile, Brazil, Australia, and more, including the United States in spring of 2018 as well as playing festivals globally.

The hologram production company “Eyellusion” revealed today the details of the tour, and that the fans should expect an alternating set list with Dio classics mixed with some of Ronnie’s Black Sabbath and Rainbow hits as well.

Eyellusion CEO and founder Jeff Pezzuti stated “We’ve really only given DIO fans a small taste of what they’re going to see on this tour,”
Jeff also went on to say “We are creating a completely new hologram of Ronnie, designing an amazing light show and continuing to add more dates around the world to make sure that as many fans as possible get an opportunity to take part in this experience.”
The “Dio Returns” tour will feature Dio’s actual live vocals, backed by a live band consisting of former DIO members Simon Wright (drums), Craig Goldy (guitar) and Scott Warren (keyboards) alongside bassist Bjorn Englen (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN).

Veteran metal vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) will also perform, with singer Oni Logan (LYNCH MOB) also joining on select dates.
Ronnie’s widow and longtime manager Wendy Dio told Rolling Stone “Ronnie was always wanting to experiment with new stage ideas and was a big Disney fan, with this said, I am sure he is giving us his blessing with this hologram project.”

The hologram made its debut at last year’s Wacken Festival in Germany.
