Ah, the first day of April. Well, let’s see, what’s going on? Oh, I won the lottery, we’re selling the house, and we’re moving to Hong Kong. I’m buying an airplane and a recording studio, and Alison is getting a new Mercedes, and before we move we’re going back to Bora Bora for old time’s sake.
April Fools!! Obviously, none of that is happening. But what is actually going on?
Alison just got back from two weeks in North Carolina where she had a great time doing Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None“. And the stories she had when she got back! She played the perfectly nasty, holier than thou, “Emily Brent” and scared the pants off of people! She loved Pinehurst, and the cast was fabulous. There were many postings on Facebook of their curtain calls with standing ovations! Be sure to check out upcoming shows at the wonderful Judson Theatre – you never know who’s going to be there! Judson Theatre
And welcome to all of our new readers from North Carolina! Enjoy!
While she was gone, I snuck out and went to a St. Patrick’s day celebration with a few friends. Let’s see, who was there? Hersha Parady (Alice Garvey) and Rachel Greenbush (Carrie Ingalls), to name a few. It was very Irish. I was drinking black-and-tans, a mixture of Guinness Stout and Harp Ale. And all the music was Irish, traditional Irish I mean. (I could have done with a few Cranberries’ tunes, just sayin’!) Many thanks to Patrick Burke, our wonderful host.
That’s about it for March. No, wait, Alison and I went out for dinner to celebrate the anniversary of our first date! (Sock Monkey rolls his eyes!) No, really, it was fun! And the food was great!
All right, all right! Schedule, then?
First up, there’s the Easter Edition of the Nasty Nellie Oleson Tour of Hollywood. Yep, Alison and Tour Guide Extraordinaire Richard Sebastian are at it again. Sunday, April 9th from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Check it out here: Nellie Tour Oh, and if you need some encouragement, check out these videos:

Next, I’m taking a few days off from work, and we’re going to Palm Springs! On Wednesday, April 12th, Alison will be the Special Guest at the Toast to the Stars: Palm Springs Variety Show. This is held at the Rat Pack Hideaway, 200-220 W. Alejo Rd. Palm Springs CA. 92262. The Rat Pack Hideaway is indeed the hideaway where Frank, Sammy and Dino used to party back in the day! You’ll also recognize it as the location for many scenes in the Emmy award winning “Behind the Candelabra” about the life of Liberace.
The evening begins with cocktails at 6:00 pm, followed by Gilmore Rizzo and Francesca Amari performing hits from The Rat Pack, as well as other famous composers, singers, TV and movie stars who were Palm Springs locals, such as: Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz, Cary Grant, Bing Crosby, Louie Prima & Keeley Smith, Bob Hope, Judy Garland and many more.
Then, at the height of the show, Alison will take the stage. And who knows what she’ll do with it! Tickets include dinner, drinks and live entertainment. You can book tickets at 760-200-9483, or check it out online at Toast To The Stars. This is a one-of-a-kind event, so book early!
And then, once again, she’s off to the Missouri Cherry Blossom Festival in Marshfield, MO. Alison will be there, along with Dean Butler (Almanzo Wilder), and Charlotte Stewart (Miss Beadle). Check it out: Cherry Blossom Festival The festival runs from April 27th thru April 29th. All events at the festival (that don’t include food) are free. (Mmmmm, cherries!) There will be many activities, including a discussion of “Memories of Little House”, and a Legends of Television panel moderated by Alison. Should be fun!
And for May, Alison is first heading for the Seattle area. She will be attending the Port Orchard Film Festival, held at Dragonfly Cinema, 822 Bay St, Port Orchard, WA 98366, May 5th through 7th. She will also be shooting more scenes for The Mephisto Box. On Friday, there is the opening of the Festival with a VIP Party. Tickets: Comic Con Tickets O Comic Con is an indie expo-style comics and pop culture convention now in its third year of operation. And Alison’s buddy Caroll Spinney will be there! (You remember, he was Big Bird!)
And then, just to keep her busy (and out of town!) for July, Alison will be going, for the first time ever, to De Smet, South Dakota to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society’s Summer event, July 14th to 16th. She will be joined there by Dean Butler (Almanzo) for a wonderful weekend. Checkout their website here: Discover Laura They finally have info on the site about Alison & Dean. They will be joined there by William Anderson, Author and Wilder Historian. (Think you know a lot about Little House! Ha!) Alison has never been to De Smet, so who knows what she and Dean will get up to?? (Should we warn the people of De Smet? Ya think?)
That’s all we know for now. There will be more filling in as we go, so we’ll keep you posted. Lot’s of things in development, so to speak.
1. It seems there was a gathering of Little House cast members somewhere in Long Beach. (Long Beach!!) Nope, can’t say any more than that. For now . . .
2. Qu’est-ce que tu penses? Devrait-on retrouver Alison en France? Peut-etre . . . . . septembre…?
3. OMG, they’re doing a remake of Battle of The Network Stars! Back in the ’70s, Karen Grassle, Melissa Sue Anderson, and Melissa Gilbert were all on it. Who will be on it now? And what event do you think she’d win? (Win??)
4. You all certainly seemed to enjoy reading Alison’s book, “Confessions of a Prairie Bitch”. How would you feel about listening to it?
So, what did we all wait for when we were watching Little House? Think about it . . . Why, for Nellie to get what she deserved, right? Like when Nels took off his belt and . . . well, we’ve all seen that one. But here you are, all in one place, courtesy of Friendly Family Productions: Nellie Gets It Thanks, Trip! Good job!
Heeeres Amy – Remember Alison’s Comedy album Heeeres Amy? Well, still available from Uproar Entertainment. For the full story of the album, from Alison herself, check out their website: Heeere’s Amy And if you want to sample a few tracks, go to their Facebook page and scroll down about halfway to the album cover, and it will give you a few seconds of each routine: Uproar FaceBook
LIFE INTERRUPTED – From their FaceBook page: “The MULTI-AWARD WINNING WEB SERIES: As of 4/2/17 – 3,500 ppl on our FB page, nearly 35,000 views and almost 1,000 subs on our Youtube Channel” Well, almost 1,000. That would actually be 990. There’s something that happens when you reach 1,000 subscribers. (Who knows? Fireworks? Stars? An Honorable Mention in Ripley’s Believe It Or Not?) So, if 10 of you could go to YouTube and subscribe, that would be awesome! What does it cost? Nothing! How hard is it? Point, click, done. Check it out here: Life Interrupted
Pam Roylance (Sarah Reed Carter) – Well, it seems that Pam is at it again! She just got back from San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she shot a guest star role on Startup, a new media cable show now in its 2nd season on Crackle. She played the mother of one of the regular characters. Here’s the IMDB link for the show: Startup IMDB Way to go, Pam! Globetrotter!
Dean Butler (Almanzo Wilder) – This summer is the 150th birthday of Laura Ingalls Wilder, so Dean’s a pretty busy guy! He’ll be at:
Cherry Blossom Festival, Springfield, MO – Apr 27–29 (With Alison, see above)
Frankenmuth Historical Museum, Frankenmuth, MI – June 2
Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant, De Smet, SD – July 14-16 (With Alison, see above)
Genesee Country Village, Genesee, NY – Aug 4-5
Heritage Hill, Green Bay WS – Aug 11-13 (Heritage Hills) With Lucy Lee Flippin
Aside from all that, Dean is the Senior Producer for the Feherty series on the Golf Channel. Well, it seems that the show has been nominated for Outstanding Weekly Studio Show for the 38th Sports Emmy Awards!! The awards will be presented in New York City on May 9th. (Fingers crossed!) Way to go, Dean!
Radames Pera (John Edwards, Jr.) – News Alert! Newlyweds (and new parents!) Anne-Sophie and Radames Pera have moved back to the country where they met. Oui, ce serait la France! As a baby, Radames spent a year there with his parents. Then, after his Dad passed away in Strasbourg last year (only two weeks before their daughter Camille was born in California) they realized that Anne’s clan offered more in the way of family than what Radames could currently offer his little girl in the US. So, off they went! (So recently that I just saw him here last week!) Radames, profitez de votre temps en France. Mais rappelez-vous, quand vous répondez à frapper à la porte, nous pourrions être debout là-bas. (Have some Champagne chilling, s’il-vous plait!)
Charlotte Stewart (Miss Beadle) – First off, Charlotte and hubby Michael Santos will be at the Gem & Mineral show in Mariposa, California at the foot of Yosemite on April 8th and 9th showing Michael’s meteorites and jewelry. It’s quite something if you haven’t seen his stuff. (I’m currently playing with a guitar pick that Michael made for me from a meteorite!) Check it out here: Gem & Mineral Show And of course, Charlotte will have her books and Beadle Bags for sale. Next, Charlotte will be joining Alison & Dean at the Cherry Blossom Festival. (Above)
Lucy Lee Flippin (Eliza Jane Wilder) – Lucy Lee will be hooking up with Dean for an appearance at the Heritage Hills Laura Ingalls Wilder event. (See above) And she was just in town for . . oh, wait, can’t say.
Pat Labyorteaux (Andy Garvey) – Pat plays Dr. Adam Loyton on an episode of Rebel, scheduled to air on Tuesday, April 4th on BET. From the website: “‘Rebel’ is an extraordinary take on the seminal police drama that examines the unique and conflicted relationship officers of color have with their jobs – at a time when police forces are rife with brutality and misconduct.” Checkout their IMDB: Rebel IMDB Nice going, Pat!
The Saga of Sock Monkey (Chapter Fifty-Three)
Sock Monkey was almost holding his breath. The man in uniform went through the door. “Regardez votre étape, s’il vous plaît”, said the man in uniform. (Sock Monkey was watching every step at this point!) Alison was the next one through the door, slowly. Sock Monkey gulped, took another sip of cognac, and climbed the steps. One . . two . . three . . . And then he was in. Sock Monkey could not believe his eyes! “Bonjour”, said the man in the pilot’s uniform. “Bienvenue”, said the woman in the co-pilot’s chair. Sock Monkey could only stare in wonder. They were in the cockpit of the plane, where the pilot and co-pilot flew the plane, and there were windows on every side. (It makes sense that the person flying the plane would have the best view, now doesn’t it?) And the stars!! They were flying above the clouds, and the sky was just awash in stars. Millions of them! “Once we’re in the air, we don’t have a lot to do, aside from the occasional course correction on the computer, so it’s nice to have a little company once in awhile”, said the co-pilot. Sock Monkey sighed with relief, and settled in to enjoy his cognac. “This is more like it”, he thought. Especially after that scene in the airport! Here they were, high over the Atlantic, on their way to France, Alison chatting with the pilots, and Sock Monkey sipping some fine cognac from First Class. Sock Monkey was well pleased!
(To be continued . . .)
