Summer . . June . . . Hot, real hot! We’re having the first heat wave of the year, temperatures in the 90s and rising. No rain in sight. Well, sounds like California, doesn’t it?
It’s been a pretty good month so far. First we went to the funniest, most bizarre, creepiest comedy show in the world. Two Headed Dog presents ‘Clowntown City Limits’! (It’s hard to explain. You’ll just have to go see it!) Then there was the Standells/Rick Derringer concert at the Palace. What a show! Alison introduced the bands, and a good time was had by all. And the Palace Theater in downtown LA is a great old theater. It was built in the vaudeville days, and Houdini performed there! (We’re going back for a tour!)
Then we went with Rachel Greenbush and Danny to see a performance of Jersey Boys. It was an incredible show, and we got to meet one of the cast, Barry Anderson, (who might just be a bit of a Bonnethead..!) and he took us for a tour backstage. I was in heaven! There were guitars everywhere! Great show Barry, and thank you again for the tour!
BREAKING NEWS! Alison….Nominated for an EMMY?? Well, almost. See, before the nominations come out, actors and shows are on the TV Academy page listed as “For Your Consideration”, so all the TV Academy members can vote for them! And guess who’s on there right now?? Yes, Alison is now under consideration for Emmy nomination for her role in the hilarious “Life Interrupted”. The shows is up for nomination too, as well as her co-stars Dawn Wells, (yes, “Mary Ann” from Gilligan’s Island!) and Michael Learned, (mom “Olivia Walton” from The Waltons!). So if you’re reading this and you happen to be a voting member of the Television Academy, be sure to look under “Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series” – that’s where Alison is! (And of course you can also vote for “Life Interrupted“, the show at “Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series”.) You can watch “Life Interrupted” and subscribe to their channel here: Life Interrupted YouTube

We just found out that Alison’s table will be near Rob Paulsen, who was the voice of Pinky in ‘Pinky and the Brain‘!! NARF!! POIT!! (Alison is in heaven over this one!)
Later in July, Alison will be going, also for the first time ever, to De Smet, South Dakota to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Memorial Society’s Summer Event. She will be joined there by Dean Butler (Almanzo) for a wonderful weekend. Checkout their website here: http://www.discoverlaura.org/ They will also be joined there by William Anderson, Author and Wilder Historian. Schedule De Smet Schedule And for a special treat, Alison will be presenting a Special edition of Confessions, entitled “Confessions from the Prairie” on Sunday at 2:00 pm (Reception to follow) See, South Dakota is turning into a real adventure, isn’t it?
Well, it’s that time of year when people are planning their summer vacations. And to accommodate your planning procedures, Alison and Tour Guide Extraordinaire Richard Sebastian have scheduled two episodes of the Nasty Nellie Oleson Tour of Hollywood. The first one will be on Sunday, July 23rd, and the second one will be on Sunday, August 20th. The tours are $85.00, and run from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Check it out here: Dearly Departed Tours For tickets go to: Nellie Tour Tickets Now remember, there’s always a theme to the tours. I believe the theme for July is a celebration of summer. And we don’t yet have a theme for August, so we’ll be surprising you!
Then, in August, Alison, Rachel (Carrie Ingalls) and Brian Part (Carl Sanderson Edwards) will be Grand Marshals of the Ed Perine Memorial Parade taking place as part of Fiesta Days 50th Anniversary on August 4-6, 2017. Their duties as marshals will include a Meet & Greet along with autograph signing and pictures with the fans! For the official Fiesta Days website, go to: Fiesta Days The celebration will be at Frazier Mountain Park, 3801 Park Drive, Frazier Park, CA 93225 From their website: “Fiesta Days is the longest running celebration in the Mountain Communities with people from all over flocking to the mountains to participate in the three day festival! Come to Fiesta Days to see old friends, make new friends, and keep building your Mountain Memories!” This is the Fiftieth Anniversary, so it’s going to be a big deal. The Saga of Sock Monkey (Chapter Fifty-Five)
Sock Monkey was dreaming. He dreamed that he was the pilot of the plane, and he was up in the cockpit with all the stars everywhere . . . but wait, there was some turbulence! The plane was shaking!! He couldn’t control it! “Monkey, wake up! We’re landing”, said Alison as she shook him awake. Sock Monkey slowly woke and stirred, thankful that he was not really flying the plane. Alison was gathering her things and getting ready to move on. “Come on, Monkey, you’re going to sleep through Paris!” That got him! He started putting his things in his little Monkey travel bag, starting with this Monkey passport. “You can’t be too careful!”, he thought. He remembered when he didn’t even need a passport, but those days were long gone! Heightened security everywhere! He grabbed his bag, and jumped into Alison’s bag, as they began the long slow walk off of the plane. He was going over his French lessons in his head. “Un deux, trois, quatre . . . lundi Mardi Mercredi Jeudi Vendredi Samedi Dimanche.” He wanted to make a good impression . . .
(To be continued . . .)
And we have some this month, too!! Catahoula is playing again. We will be at Viva Cantina, 900 W. Riverside Drive, Burbank CA 91506, on Saturday, July 8th, from 7:30pm to 11:30pm.
