TOM PETTY DEAD AT 66 YEARS OLD    

Iconic Rocker Tom Petty has passed away.

After early reports of Tom’s passing after being taken off life support, the singer has passed away.

A lot of news sources like Billboard, Rolling Stone, CBS and including us jumped the gun yesterday to report the passing of the singer.

Petty’s daughter took to social media yesterday and blasted the news sources, especially Rolling Stone for rushing to get the story out, and that her father was still alive.

He died before midnight Eastern time surrounded by family, friends and bandmates.

 

 

News started breaking a few hours ago, that Petty was found last night at his Malibu home unconscious and in full cardiac arrest.

EMT’S were able to get a pulse and rushed him to UCLA Santa Monica Hospital where it was discovered he no longer had any brain activity, and placed on life support.

Petty just wrapped up a tour last Monday night with 3 nights at the Hollywood Bowl, in which the band celebrated their 40th Anniversary.

In the late 70’s Petty started his rise to legendary status with songs like “Breakdown”, “Refugee”, “You Got Lucky”, “Free Fallin”, “Won’t Back Down” and countless others including a duet with Stevie Nicks, “Stop Draggin my Heart Around”

In the late 80’s Tom formed The Traveling Wilbury’s with fellow legends Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, and the late George Harrison and Roy Orbison, and followed this up with the album that really made him a huge star “Full Moon Fever”
